When colors were added to the 5250 data stream, they overlaid the existing attributes: red overlaid blink, blinking red overlaid blinking higlight, cyan overlaid column separators, yellow overlaid the combination of highlight and column seps, pink overlaid the combination of blink and column seps, and blue overlaid the combination of blink, column seps, and highlight.

The only attributes that remained independent of color were underline and reverse (but note that all underline-reverse-highlight combinations were always "nondisplay").

I'm not entirely sure of this, but I *think* that just as, in theory, with the InfoWindow II enhancements, one can have attributes that don't take up screen space, one can also combine any attribute combination with any color. In practice though, I have yet to see any development tools that support the InfoWindow II enhancements.
