You have not given enough information to completely give an answer.  

1. Is DDS a DSPF? Example of DDS too. 
2. If DSPF, are there DSPATR() values with CS, RI and HI in use or
CHGINPDFT(HI CS) with DSPATR(RI) in use?
3. Where is there data?
4. Do you have data in the sub file detail?
5. If DSPF, are fields the same name? 
 5a. If not same name are you moving data at the correct time?
6. If a DSPF, are there any edit codes on the field?
