Not only that, but part of the reason we're here is to help those that perhaps need some SQL 101 type help...and if you
fragment lists, you'll lose that availability.Granted, the lists are also eager, willing and able to "suggest" someone "RTFM!"....where it's appropriate, of course :)
And as I told Paul, there are times when in the consulting world you may spend 6-12 months on a client box that doens't have SQL and you WILL forget! Which is one of the reasons I keep an extensive reference library because I can't talk everyone into the merits of SQL, etc...and God forbid you get stuck in a shoppe that is still using S/38 environment code...and old RPGIII...and there's a bunch of them out there!
There's too many old shoppes out there with the "if I don't need it to balance my G/L....I don't need it...and I haven't needed it so far..." kinda BS attitude. Good successful people/businesses, but not going to update their systems anytime soon.

For a couple of years it siphoned off ten or twenty percent of the really simple or very non-iSeries related questions, and then (perhaps as Java lost some of its luster) the number of Java issues in general died down and JAVA101 became pretty quiet. And at the same time, for the beginning questions, I think people were able to move to other more suitable resources like JavaRanch; my guess is there are similar places where someone's would be better spent for beginning SQL questions. But I'm not going to waste time arguing the merits of any new lists. In the end it's up to David.
