Thanks for your continued interest and inventiveness.

In fatc what I do is use Irfan view in batch mode to create 4 sizes of all images, one of which is a thumbnail, so they should always be there. The reason for my question about thumbnails was that if they were automatically created and in the header, then I only need three sizes.
