But the compiler is different each time new features are added.  When you
install previous release support, what it really does is install the compiler
for that release along side your current compiler.  When you compile at V5R1
with a current target release, it calls the V5R1 compiler.  When you compile at
V5R1 but with a *PRV target, it actually runs the V4R5 compiler.  Since it knows
nothing about /free, you get syntax errors.
