I am confused, but perhaps my note will spur others to contribute something
meaningful.

Why not make SFLSIZ<>SFLPAG but only load one page?  Then ROLLUP/ROLLDOWN
will always be returned to your program and you can still manually control
the paging.

Also, this question of 10k records has come up several times, and the
consensus is that one should never even think about loading that many
records.  Make sure your search criteria are focussed enough to let the end
user find what she's after without having to actually scroll through 10k
records.

For example, a large business telephone bill may well have 50k long distance
calls a month.  It is rare that someone wants to see each and every one of
those calls one after the other.  Normally, they are reviewing certain types
of calls: over n dollars, or to country code z or longer than m minutes.  By
allowing suitable search criteria, we can show the hundred or so calls that
are over 100 dollars, and even warn the person that they've asked to see
12000 records: do you want to continue?  They almost never do...
