By definition all storage in a subprocedure is Automatic.  This differs from
the main line procedures which use Static storage.  Because of this subprocs
can be called recursively while main line "programs" (technically
procedures) can not.

If you wish to use storage in a subproc and have it visible at all levels of
recursion you must specify the keyword STATIC on the definition.  This makes
it almost the same as storage in the main procedure.  I say "almost" because
it is unaffected by LR and hangs around forever - or at least until the AG
goes away.
