There is no method that I am aware of.

The 5250 architecture controls that.  It's the way the 5250 designers built
it.  It's not a matter of changing something at the sending side; it's a
matter of changing how the 5250 client (the physical display or emulation
program AND attached controller) handles the cursor.  Unless you intend to
write your own 5250 client AND use User Defined Data in your RPG program,
you will have to live within the parameters outlined by the architects of
the 5250 datastream.

It contains specifics about how 5250 datastreams are architected and
interpreted.  Perhaps you'll have better luck than I did trying to find a
remedy...
