Look at your "away from DDS to SQL"  comment.   Now imagine that the people
that develop SQL believe that RPG is as about as modern as DDS and I think
you will understand.

They (the DB development team) will not be "Focused"  on any enhancements
to the native access methods(ie Chain, ReadE, etc).

How RPG works with SQL is,  we might say,  Not a High Priority thing.
Now, ODBC, JDBC, SQL native functions are a high priority.   GUI control
and management (ie Ops Nav, etc) is also high priority.

Remember what Jon said.   There are MANY IBM's.   It's NOT one company
working together for the betterment of the whole with one clear vision for
the future(for more than a week).

Now,  How does DB2 & SQL work with Linux?   I bet there is some focus
there(and funding).
