Hence my comment about change and recompiling.  At least using the same
name would allow you to find all files using that field name by looking at
QSYS/QADBIFLD.

My point is that you have the data dictionary.  It is the file
QSYS/QADBIFLD.

However for change and recompiling I can see the point of the old Field
Reference File.  But, you have no reason to change the field name.
Especially from AAITEM# in one file and BBITEM# in another.

True. But recently I had to change a field named Workcenter from 10 char to
32 char because the business changed the way a workcenter is identified.
