For several reasons I've made a "WhoAmI" CL with the user name as one of
several parms and have found that works in most situations. Perhaps the
same technique would work for, allowing you to call the CL from within
your subprocedure?

Subject: Obtaining user name in a subprocedure

I need to obtain the user name in a subprocedure of the user running the
program that calls the subprocedure. I tried using a program-status data
structure but found that they are not allowed in subprocedures. What is
the simplest method for obtaining the user name?
