It's a transaction processing system that was ported from the mainframe during
the old "rightsizing" days.  IBM was trying to convince its mainframe
customers (considered an almost dead market at the time) that they could
seamlessly migrate to the AS/400 -- HA!  Performance was so abysmal on the
models of the day that almost nobody purchased it.  Besides, OLTP in real time
is the /400's strength, and CICS practically defeats the purpose of moving to
the box in the first place.  Until today's posting from Srinivas, I didn't
realize that CICS was even still offered and it's the first time I've heard of
anyone even using it.  Mainframes have risen from the dead, and I thought
CICS/400 to be moot.

Srinivas would probably get better response by posting his (her?) query to
MIDRANGE-L.  I doubt any RPGers would be able to help...
