Hans,

I think everyone has spent a lot of time on these incompatibilities. One
question though. Is there a way to return an Integer to CL? If they use
the "C" calling convention, you would think this could be done. It seems
to always come back to the "Rochester" people. Someone suggested
on the Midrange-L list that in-line commands be supported, maybe this
isn't such a bad idea.

If the prototype change can fix it by supporting a calling convention option
on return variables, when can it be done? Sooner is better, because I will
have a lot less to convert.

mmm zzzzz grmbmm er uh wha? I'm awake! I'm awake! Yes, I'm
listening.

We can't "fix" this since there are a couple of programs out there
that depend on the current behaviour. You know how sticky we are
with release-to-release compatibility.

However, you do know that we are aware of the "problem". We're
currently looking at ways to resolve this. Since different
languages have different parameter passing and return value
protocols, we are looking into adding some options on the
procedure prototype definition.

Cheers! Hans
