Not a car stereo but I have MP3 player from Virtual Reality sound labs that
takes an SD card a USB stick or a cable from another player (CD, iPod etc).
Model VRFM9. I've had it a couple years. I think I got it at W or KMart
can't remember.

Does anyone know if there are any USB capable car stereos systems on the

That is.if I had a bunch of MP3s on a USB stick, is there a car stereo I
could be which would let me plug the USB stick in and just start listening?

I found some at Best Buy.com which allow you to plug an iPod into, but
none that appear to allow you plug any old USB stick with MP3's on it,
into.

Seems like a no-brainer to me that such a thing would exist now but maybe
it's more complex to achieve than I think.
