Thanks for the input, guys!   As for the preloaded software, I'm not 
really worried about it in this instance.  It is provided by the school 
and is used to setup the machine for use with their network and contains 
software I would need specifically for my program. 

I'm going to keep my eyes open for awhile, but as of now, I can't find any 
other compareable laptops at a better price than the two given through the 
school.  And I'm still leaning toward the Thinkpad.  I'll decide once I 
see them both in person if I can.
