I am not authorized to the crtlib or STRTCPSVR commands on PUB400 so I
couldn't follow your instructions.

Please advise.

All the best,

Hello Richard,

Then I would suggest that you start easy and get your feet wet with git and
IBM i:

There is a small bug in this tool: cvtrpgfree I would appreciate it if you
could help me with fixing that.

This is the landing page for the project:

https://github.com/NielsLiisberg/cvtrpgfree

The bug is reported here:

https://github.com/NielsLiisberg/cvtrpgfree/issues

So if you use the instructions found here:

https://github.com/NielsLiisberg/cvtrpgfree/blob/master/README.md

And I am sure that @Holger will give you some IBM i space to play with in
"the bunker"

You will probably need some new open source tools that handles git on your
PC :

So download vsCode:

https://code.visualstudio.com/download

Enable the RPG plugin:

Click "Extensions" and search for RPG .. and you will find my name .. yes
7000 + users is not bad ;)

Now you can compile the RPG code directly in vsCode on holger s IBM i - and
is will position on errors - if any .. and best

vsCode has a brilliant integration to git, so when you are ready you simply
make a "pull request" and I will be noticed - and do the code review...

.. This is simply how all open source projects work - Welcome on board
IBMiOSS - and Thank you for your interest !!

P.S. A side benefit - You will learn a lot about RPG free - since this is
what this project cvtrpgfree is all about.

Good morning Niels,

I'll need a bit of guidance getting started. FWIW - I'll be
working
on the PUB400 box so please keep that in mind. I've never done any
opensource work, so I'm clueless as to the process. Please be patient
with
me.
