Ok ... what is a 'distributed' environment?
In the SCM market, it's commonly used to refer to Unix & Windows
development ... but there's nothing inherent 'Distributed' in the Unix &
Windows programming world. We commonly refer to our products being able
to mangage both System i and Distributed development.
But there's nothing inherently 'distributed' about Windows & Unix
development. You can write stand alone code just as easily as you can
write code that communicates with a server (or is a server). The same
can be said for code on the System i.
Perhaps it's referring to the development of the various modules being
'distributed' among many developers? No, that can't be right ... the
same distribution can occur when developing System i code.
Something to ponder.
