Personally, I use Netscape Mail for this newsserver as well as various
other newsservers. I'm not sure I'd ever use Outlook for newsgroup
access unless it's a needed work-related task and my employer names
Outlook as a required standard.
BTW, this is my first attempt at configuring for any of the Midrange
lists via NNTP rather than e-mail, so you might never see this.

I had Outlook 2000 (or Office 2000 rather) I had a separate news reader app.

Any suggestions? I guess I could just download Thunderbird from Mozilla. .

Subject: *** ADMIN: Some lists available on a private news server!
Folks:
As most of you know ... a number of the lists hosted by midrange.com are
gated to newsgroups by the gmane.org service.
A few lists hosted here I did not want gated to gmane.org's news server
because they have a very limited scope and reach.
As an alternative, I have made some of those lists available on a private
news server that I run.
Currently the only lists available on the private server are:
midrange-nontech
pctech
cpf0000
The news server host address is nntp.midrange.com, PORT 1199 (note the
non-standard port). No authentication is necessary.
