Folks:
As most of you know ... a number of the lists hosted by midrange.com are
gated to newsgroups by the gmane.org service.
A few lists hosted here I did not want gated to gmane.org's news server
because they have a very limited scope and reach.
As an alternative, I have made some of those lists available on a
private news server that I run.
Currently the only lists available on the private server are:
midrange-nontech
pctech
cpf0000
The news server host address is nntp.midrange.com, PORT 1199 (note the
non-standard port). No authentication is necessary.
This news server is relatively new to me ... so there may be some
glitches. Please contact me via PRIVATE email if you encounter any
oddities.
As with the gmane.org hosted newsgroups ... you still have to be
subscribed to the list in order to post ... but you can disable mail
delivery if you are going to use the news server exclusively.
PLEASE NOTE: This private news server does *NOT* encrypt email addresses
like gmane.org's servers do.
