Hi Brad

Looks like no one has given you a thread for moving HTTP stuff to its own pool - here is a link -

Quite a few steps but all nicely laid out there.

ya.. I don't know how to do that. :) (well, the move QHTTPSVR subsystem to
it's own pool).

As far as the number of threads, that's part of the issue. When 15
requests come in all at once it just chokes them all.

Try to increase the thread count to 999 (Maximum) for the workload, and
move the subsystem to its own shared pool.

I have a max of 100. I tried to drop it down to like 10 but for some
reason the SSI requests that were waiting for an available job would just
error out right away (I haven't looked into why yet.. it shouldn't do
that).

As for the other things.. I'm no hardware guy.. sorry. :)

Hi Brad,

* How many threads have you set for that particular Apache server?
* Do you have different storage tier options? Maybe a faster tier or
adding more IOPs (more disks or memory, depending on your vendor) could
help your workloads
* Can you change the amount of vCPUs?

Yep, I've already got 14gb of memory.

We had a similar situation with a web server on i. We bumped from 1000

I am using a cloud system and I was set up with the lowest CPW

It works in most situations except it is a little slow for websites
with a
lot of server side includes. This means that when a page is loaded
there
are 10 or more requests made at the same time to fulfill those SSI
requests
and it seems to overwhelm the CPU. (Think of it as 10 or more people
requesting a CGI web page at the same time).

Would a bump up from 725 to 1450 make much of a difference? Or is
there
any tuning one can do to help?

I am thinking about changing the way the pages are developed to not
use
so
many SSIs.. but they're so nice. :)
