Hi Greg

We've also used SQL2XLS for years - I thought I'd heard there is an XLSX version, in fact, I think Giuseppe published something. Can you tell us where you acquired it?

Vern

I'll vote for that...

I have used something called SQL2XLS (now SQL2XLSX) for probably 20 years (from Giuseppe Costagliola) It allows you to do that (and other things). It just doesn't do CSV.

maybe this would be good to vote on:
"Using SYSTOOLS.GENERATE_SPREADSHEET to export data to excel, using an existing excel template."

Thanks Gerald... I have it working in an RPG program (but I'm calling it).
I did not test this running under a standard user profile... I may run into issues given our exit point security software.

I think it's a nice addition to my toolbag, but... you lose a lot of granularities.
I have many RPG programs that use IFS tools I created to write data "row-by-row". Like you said, I can control the "column headers", delimiter, etc.

Giuseppe also has SQL2CSV and SQL2XML.

https://www.mcpressonline.com/programming/sql/techtip-sql2csv-and-sql2xml

Actually, there are several versions of SQL2CSV (google SQL2CSV) out there, one for .net, another written in python.
