We've spoken with 7 vendors so far for reporting needs. If you don't have a
need for a pixel-perfect designer tool for advanced form creation, M-Power
is an option.

The M-Power platform is more than just reporting. One of the main selling
points we've been told by pre-sales is the low-code development features.
The platform can facilitate the creation of apps or solutions that run on
your data. If you are tight on development resources, it can help fill in
the gap.

If you need pixel-perfect report designer tools included with your
reporting
engine, I'd recommend Jasper Commercial or SEQUEL. Jasper doesn't run on i,
but if you're comfortable deploying it on Linux or Windows (bleh), you'll
be
ok.

BTW, in our case we had no trouble reaching out to both the Jasper and
SEQUEL teams. The WebFocus team is the group that you may have a hard time
contacting, as they are focusing on large enterprises right now. If you're
a
larger company and want to stay close to Web Query roots, they could be a
match.

I have used it for the past 10 years and like it. It is pretty powerful.

I recommended Jasper to someone and they approached Tibco. But they
didn't really have an interest in selling commercial support. Weird,
but probably have bigger fish to fry I suppose.

I think Koen's group is selling services around Jasper from what I know.
But he would have to be the one to clarify.

I'll check her out. Let me know some night when you're performing.
Would love to catch you playing !!

"Someone you know?" :) Anyone I know?

Trouble with community version is can't use it in commercial
enterprise, so far as I read. Koen Decorte, in Belgium, uses it a lot
for reporting, he's done some amazing things on the i.

BTW, I've been taking jazz piano lessons from a local world-class
pianist
- check her out at marylouiseknutson.com - she toured with Doc
Severinsen for 8 years or so. Reason for lessons is I'm playing
keyboard with the Zuhrah Shrine Flames Big Band - too much fun, man!

Best regards
Vern
