A while back I posed a question about others experiencing performance degradation after upgrading to v7r5 (we came from v7r3).

Since that time I've had a lot of help from IBM to narrow down the issue.
One of the symptoms is I/O wait times and a very busy disk controller. Initially IBM recommended additional disk controller and disks. But we also found something else that was remedied by a software vendor. We thought we had it licked. However, this past week we experienced the degradation again - it lasted about 40 minutes. Currently, IBM has helped me setup a Combined PEX/JobWatcher/Collection Service trace so that we can trap this as it is occurring.

When this degredation occurs, WRKSYSACT sorted by I/O shows SMPOL001 at the top with 20K Non-DB Write over about 15 minutes.

Just wondering if anyone else has (or is) experiencing something similar?

If we can't nail this down, our alternative is a relatively pricey upgrade that involves a new box and jumping up a processor group.

Thx,
Greg
