Drives native to IBM i get firmware updated by PTFs.
Drives hosted by VIOS are often not updated by VIOS upgrades and require
you to run a special tool to look for updates.

IBM has a FlashSystem model of SAN with an alert out on it that if you run
for about 800 days or so without any firmware updates it could go casters
up.

We had a Cisco device that had a similar issue

So, if you're one of those IBM i shops that only put PTF's, updates and
upgrades on at gunpoint what's the chance of you getting hit by one of
these issues?
