When we bought DB2 Web Query, I was fortunate enough to work with Doug Mack and Jim Bainbridge. They gave me a crash course using System i Navigator... what an awesome experience. They taught me a lot.

But like most things, you either use it or lose it. And now the interface has changed as well.

I've tried to wring value out of Visual Explain, but I haven't had any
luck. All of the indexes it would advise have long since been created.

The times I think I need VE are for those behemoths - a view over other
views. It highlights a Table Scan, but tells me that it chose the scan
because the cost was less.

I'd love a decent tutorial with examples.
