Yeah, we've done similar things from C#.

But we haven't needed to do so from RPG.

As I think about it, I suppose even RPG might need it if it's a dynamic
statement rather than static.

I got a the same error a few weeks ago when using merge from a java
program.

I ended up having to explicitly cast the parameter’s in the values clause
in order for DB2 to accept them.
