Since RPG now allows partial keys, it is notlonger useful to have indexes for shorter keys.
RPG allowed always to access the data with a partial key!

Just for your information if you have shorter indexes with the same key fields in the same sequence
... SQL builts 2 indepenent access path which both have to be maintained, i.e. access path is only shared if there are 2 indexes with exactly the same keys in the same order.
... logical files (with the same or less key fields in the same order) can share access paths if the LF with the more key fields are generated first.

In general I do not see the benefit. However it may make a
difference in the order the indexes were built. For example, which
is the proper order to build these two indexes?
order, line, receipts (handles partials) order, line or order, line
order, line, receipts

We have a client who wants to rebuild indexes, just because they
haven't been built for a long time (3-4 years). They think it will
improve performance. I've never rebuilt indexes to improve
performance. Does anyone have an opinion on this?
