I hope recent threads help people to realize the benefits of staying current with the operating systems and the platforms so that one does migrate it can be as simple as one of the following:
* a complete system save and restore (done this)
* unplug the expansion units from the old and put them on the new (done this)
* change settings on the SAN (haven't done this)
The idea of saving subsets and having it work clean isn't as easy as people think it is. Seems like some of these threads take days/weeks/months to clean up the mess.
I'd like to know why some of these recent threads have had such issues. What was the scenario? Was it:
* Current hardware and OS. I followed the steps at
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=migrations-performing-migration
* Older hardware I couldn't load the current release but it was within x-2 so I followed those steps at that same site:
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=migrations-performing-migration
* ?
