Are you, or someone that has the HSCROOT password going to be there when
the move is made? Then you can manage it if it fails.

But: Why not set up the new connectivity ahead of time and leave the old
functional until after the move?
On the HMC, use the third port (eth2) and set up the new IP and give it a
route. On IBM i, the same routine just add the new IP interface and route
and you should be good to go. IBMi you wont need to use another NIC port.
On the HMC you will need to.

All set up before you move things.

We are moving a rackmount Power i and HMC to different data center (IBM
contracted for the move). New datacenter requiring a different set of ip
addresses and next hop. They want us to change all the ip just before
shutdown, so should connect when started.
IBM has fairly recent doc of steps, plus midrange-l wiki.
Not a complicated setup, but 2 partitions and 2 ip each.
All clients connect via dns names. No websphere or domino, or http in use.
From HMC 5250 am expecting no issues with IP dropping.
Any gotcha's?
