Hello James,

This whole business with Google locking out email clients reminds me of
the old chestnut about why dogs lick their privates.

Google and Microsoft are not the only email services around. Apparently,
in the US, outsourcing email is far more prevalent than in Germany, where
even mid sized companies use on premises Exchange servers. (I'm not
advocating MS Exchange servers, just telling my perception.) A higher level
of confidentiality seems to play a bigger role in Germany, maybe?

All in all, getting a static IP address, setting up a PTR in DNS for that
address and rolling out a Linux based mail relay utilizing Postfix (which
has its roots loosely tied in IBM!) isn't really hard to achieve, and is
definitely more flexible than Gmail & Co.

:wq! PoC
