I would like to get a better understanding of the LAN console. This is how
I see it. Please let me know where I am wrong.
There is an ethernet adapter, managed using SST. As shipped, this adapter
has an address like 10.x.x.x. Configure a PC with an address in that range,
set up 5250 emulation, plug it in to the adapter, and you have a console,
DSP01.
Or you can change the adapter's address to one in your network, and any PC
configured to function as a console (I use ACS 5250 Console) can be the
console.
Having said all that, is it reasonable to say that the adapter is the
console, and to gain access to the console one needs to provide the proper
PC configuration?
