DR2,

I can't remember the actual door lock brand or type.

But I do remember standing their ringing the bell to get access to
purchase the coding sheets and this could take an hour or more.

A trades person walked up to the door and just did something and the door
opened, de dropped something off and walked out again.

I asked him how he got access - He said do you have a bottle opener ? I
said yes.

I gave it to him and he showed me how he used it an low and behold the
door opened.

I used that trick for years.

Cheers

Don

Don,

Not sure which door locks you're referring to, but there was a series
that came with a "test" card...you could use that "test" card basically
as a master key for many sites....it was hilarious...

I worked on Series 1 about 35+ years ago using EDX.

IBM in Australia used to use Series 1 to control the door locks for
secure
access to the building.

We used to buy RPG coding sheets from IBM.

A tradesman showed me how to use a metal bottle opener in the card
reader
to open the doors - So much for the security!!!

I remember one of the programmers patching the kurnel to make something
work - She was an awesome programmer with Series 1 and EDX, fast and
very
few bugs, used to call the machine Beastie!! You referring to the
machine
as a Beast reminded me.

But I remember very, very, very little of Series 1.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure that a couple of folks here have mentioned working on
Series 1 - if so I'd like to hear from them or from anyone with any
experience of programming for the beast.
