Status update:

We got the replacement drive installed and configured, installed the LIC, formatted the drives to enable RAID5, and installed the operating system.
Following the procedure to recover a system from tape, we then restored user security profiles and user libraries. Everything's out there.
I have not recreated the NWSSTG device, and may not, as the space may be better used for other purposes, and have not applied the OS license key.

But, I can't seem to get it to IPL normally. I don't know if I skipped a step, or what.
When I activate the partition (B/Normal), it insists on going into a console session, with the 'IPL or Install the System' panel.
Selecting the option to IPL, it does a step by step IPL, showing all the intermediate steps as it goes.
It arrives at the IPL Options panel and finally the QSYSOPR messages panel is displayed, showing CPF0975 (Console did not vary on).
Pressing Enter, I am presented with a sign on panel, which is in the QCTL subsystem.

Any idea what I missed?

Hi,

We experienced a disk drive failure and were unconcerned since we had replacements available and believed that RAID5 was protecting us.
Now our technician is not sure whether our disks are actually protected.

Can someone tell me what the DST screen should show if our drives actually have RAID enabled? We can't get through an IPL but we can boot it into DST at least.
We are afraid we may have to rebuild from a system save tape.
