i wonder if the OSS logrotate would work. I've not tried it, but it is used for IFS log files

Thanks for any and all replies. I've run with the QSH command listed earlier. OSS solutions are interesting, but doesn't circumvent our internal inertia: we don't (historically) leverage the IFS to drill down to QSYS.LIB and work with the objects in the 'traditional' file system. It's working well, but I get the feeling my fellow I/T members would be happier if I dumped output to a file, then processed the temp file to decide what to remove.
