ASMI is NOT LAN Console, they don't share hardware nor software stack.

LAN Console uses an ethernet port assigned to the LPAR. If you have a
single LPAR system the configuration can be managed by the front panel with
the functions 65+21.

If you have access to the service tools, you might not need to subject
yourself to the pain that is working the 65+21 functions.
