My python scrips are called from QSHELL, and I built a utility RPGLE program to call them.

Well, my python knowledge is zilch so I would be starting at square one and
getting them to approve a python program, would be like trying to turn a
barge around with an oar.

However, before I even consider that route, can python be called from RPGLE
or CL?

Yep. And yeah I hate when they limit your tools. But, Python sure would be a
better alternative to Java. :)

Personally that's something I would do in Python. There are a few
Python libraries that can work with CSVs pretty easily. Plus you can
write to the DB2 table pretty easily in Python as well.
That sounds almost like something I would say! (I wouldn't have
mentioned the "few" CSV libraries, because the one which comes with
Python has been good enough for me, particularly since Python 3.)

But it seems unlikely Python would be allowed if they already don't
want to allow Java.
