Actually, at least starting with the ADB Macs (the pre-ADB Macs didn't have a control key) the "Control (CTRL)" and "Command ('splat')" keys are entirely different from each other. "Option" is more-or-less equivalent to "Alt." And for 5250 function keys to work properly on a Mac, you *do* need to disengage the BIOS functions of those keys. With a genuine Apple keyboard, I believe there's a setting for that; if you're buying a Unicomp or other third-party keyboard, you need to specifically *not* buy a Mac-specific model (and with Unicomp, you can *get* Mac-specific and 5250-specific keycaps; I have a few of each on my keyboard. Alas, Unicomp doesn't, at least the last time I checked, put the "splat" and "option" symbols on their Mac-specific keycaps, but you can do remarkable things with clear blank wet-decal film and a laser printer.
