Hello Roberto,

Any PPC64 ISO should work.
RHEL, SUSE, OpenSuse, CENTOS, I think a couple others might have ppc64
versions.
Thanks, I tried anew. Apparently, my HMC will open a 5250 console but not a terminal when installing Linux. Fortunately, I found out that one can open a restricted shell in the management section of the HMC. From there, "vtmenu" allows one to connect to the console.
Booted the named Deb10 Image (Big Endian) on my 8203-E4A and it works!
When the SMS boot menu comes up, just install like any AIX/VIOS LPAR.
If you are creating an i hosting Linux LPAR, it's the same, just pop the cd
image into a virtual CD connected to a vscsi adapter (I have to admit that
I've only done i as a host on one customer), but it should be easy.
I did. Worked. :-) I also can see a "VDASD" volume in the lsscsi output. Ip link shows an eth0.
Next is finding out how to partition correctly, because I guess it's not useful to create a DOS Partition Table on POWER?
Also, I wonder what Normal and Service Mode Boot mean in Linux Context.
