SSDs have no arms but I'm sure you know that. :-)

Besides, SSDs today can handle such a huge amount of IOPs that it will barely make a difference if you use one or ten. Seen from an IOP-PoV!

Depending on connectivity to the Host Bus, I encountered various ways of contention which actually limits raw data throughput which IMO doesn't apply to more or less current POWER hardware. (As far as I learned, the whole Midrange series is rather IOP intensive than transferring large amounts of sequencial data from disks.)
