Sounds like what is happening here.
I'm a little confused. Did varying on/off make a difference? Or was it something you 'solved it at the pc itself', such as a restart?

The help desk is a little reluctant to turn off auto reconnect. Perhaps it takes away some of the seamless recovery when we do our quarterly switches. Or when a user wakes their laptop from sleep mode upon returning to the office. Me, I'd rather have a robust system and treat the users as intelligent.
