RE: BRMS: How to omit objects from daily backup?

The "Recoveries were sketchy and more complicated." was probably due to a
fear that you might have to recover at some DR site which only had a
single drive tape library. This will NEVER happen for us. In fact we
have NO physical tapes. None. It's all done to a Virtual Tape Library
which automatically replicates the tape volumes to a different state with
it's own set of Power systems and a "limitless" supply of tape "drives".
Again, I have done bare metal restores when migrating from P7's to P9's
with zero issues.
