Your understanding is not correct...

DDL operations do support commitment control

create table cmwtest.temp (

fld1 char(10))
Table TEMP created in CMWTEST.

rollback

Rollback completed.

select * from cmwtest.temp

TEMP in CMWTEST type *FILE not found.

create table cmwtest.temp (

fld1 char(10))
Table TEMP created in CMWTEST.

commit

Commit completed.

select * from cmwtest.temp

SELECT statement run complete.

We don't use commitment control at all. And my understanding is that
DDL statements (which would include creating tables) aren't subject to
committing anyway. Even if you have commitment control on, DDL just
happens, and can't be rolled back.

And of course there is the issue that the statement works as-is in the
existing application but not in my modded version.
