QMGTOOLs are not an LPP therefore will not be touched by an upgrade process.

A save file is not touched by an upgrade unless it was a file associated
with an LPP and the developers in Rochester felt they needed to update it.

Downloading the correct version and restoring it is the correct thing to do.
The library names are the same to the new version will simply overlay the
old one. No need to keep your back up (Unless you like using up storage for
obsolete objects)

Subject: V7R3 QMGTOOLS savf version issue

I was recently given instructions by IBM for a PMR to do a HTTP ADMIN
collector using QMGTOOLS.
First they wanted to ensure by QMGTOOLS was up to date.

1) Run the command: RSTLIB SAVLIB(QMGTOOLS) DEV(*SAVF)
SAVF(QSYS/QESMGTSAVF) MBROPT(*ALL) ALWOBJDIF(*ALL)
2) On the command line type: ADDLIBLE QMGTOOLS
3) Next type: GO MG <enter>
4) In the QMGTOOLS menu, take the option number 13 to update the tool to
the latest version (default values used when asked).

What I found is the QSYS/QESMGTSAVF was a V7R1 savf.
After I did the restore
and option 13, Check IBM for updated QMGTOOLS My option 12 Display build
date - Build date and version : 05/07/18 V7R1M0 I'm currently on V7R3.

It "appears" that the OS upgrade may/does not upgrade QSYS with the proper
savf for the release.
SAVF(QSYS/QESMGTSAVF

I had to get the V7R3 QMGTOOL savf from:
http://public.dhe.ibm.com/services/us/igsc/has/

Anyone else seeing/having the same issue?

Thank You
