I think there are two areas where passwords for 5250 are a concern. I see
this more as I have IBM iACS connecting to multiple lpars.
When you fresh start your PC, and you connect to that system for the first
time since you rebooted your PC you get that GUI window where it prompts
you for your user id and password. I believe this is the one Dean is
talking about.
I do not believe he is talking about any green screen thing which pops up
after you enter your user id/password on a green 5250 signon screen.

In our environment we have the password expiration interval set a few days
longer than Windows. We prefer if they change their passwords in Windows.
When they do change their password in Windows we have IBM Secure Identity
Manager (ISIM) automatically change their password on IBM i (it does a
CHGUSRPRF USRPRF(...) PASSWORD(newpwd) under the covers). Keeps
everything in sync and we get a lot less help desk calls. That, and file
shares behave much better.
