Quick input. HMC=0/1 means that the machine WAS connected to an HMC. You
will have to erase that configuration to be able to use it in single-lpar
mode. The machine might not even support IBM i, it's detailed inside the
ASMI in one of the tabs (IBM i capable and 5250 capable or something like
that).
I would take care removing cpu-cards without putting the fillers in.
Airflow on the newer machines is very tightly calculated and a missing card
or filler might cause overheating.

There was a HMC connection listed in the ASMI, and I did delete the entry.
The HMC=0 remains on the pull out control panel though.

As for the CPU fillers, they just act as baffles to direct airflow, correct?
