No it is NOT just for active jobs. You have to stop thinking AS400 and
all job logs going to spool files.

Try this
SBMJOB CMD(DSPSYSSTS OUTPUT(*PRINT)) LOG(4 0 *SECLVL) LOGCLPGM(*YES)
LOGOUTPUT(*PND)
Job 398827/ROB/QDFTJOBD submitted to job queue QBATCH in library QGPL.
Notice the LOGOUTPUT(*PND) ?

Now, even though the job is ended I can do this
DSPJOBLOG Job(398827/ROB/QDFTJOBD)

And if I just have to have a spool file I can add OUTPUT(*PRINT) to that.

But now this job will answer to that query.

Are you really printing out all your joblogs? No? They why do you need
them as spool files in QEZJOBLOG? "Because that's the way we've always
done it."?

And, yes, GO CLEANUP will clean these up just as well.

Give changing QLOGOUTPUT some serious thought. If you want to phase it in
you can do it by:
- as shown by the SBMJOB above
- Changing specific job descriptions: CHGJOBD JOBD(...) LOGOUTPUT(*PND)

IBM has already changed many job descriptions to this value.

And if you need all joblogs instead of WRKOUTQ QEZJOBLOG you just prompt
WRKJOBLOG JOBLOGSTT(*PENDING *SPOOLED)

And if you've ever had a (now former) employee tell all the users to
CLROUTQ QEZJOBLOG on a periodic basis it stops that.
