I would not think you would need a tool to generate SQL from a DDS defined
table other than what is supplied with the OS.
The old iNav, and the newer IBM i Access Client Solutions both come with
tools to do this. If those are too easy there are APIs to do it also. At
least knowing how these tools work may help you in price negotiations if
you just insist on buying a third party solution.
Another reason to stick with DDL over DDS was clearly stated in your
email: encryption. With DDL it's quite easy to encrypt data. Look up

Some of the 3rd party vendors use this technique.
And if you go to 7.2 and above it really gets nice. They added RCAC (or
Row and Column Access Control)
