I do not see the B10C here
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/8233-E8B/p7eai/B1xx_info.htm
Possible coincidence? Did you have any PTF's scheduled to go on at IPL time? I recently had a firmware update which caused an issue at IPL time.
One card had really old card firmware incompatible with newer FSP firmware. Had to replace the card.
As far as what to do...
Hitting the Christmas nog a little early ranks up there...

is there more to adding memory to a power 7 720 8202-E4B than inserting the memory sticks into the correct location and powering the system back up?
the system had 2 4GB memory sticks. In slots 6 and 8. I pulled out the
memory card, added 2 more 4GB sticks in slots 5 and 7. Restarted.
The system fans would not quiet down. Get a B150 B10C. Remove those two new sticks and I still get the B150 B10C.
what to do?
thanks,
