Well, I don't really like the system reply list for this. Problem is, it
can hide errors. The user will be doing something, and all of a sudden will
be back to the menu with no notice of a problem. You will have to check
your logs regularly.
Another thing that can cause hidden errors is using SQL without checking
SQLCODE or SQLSTATE. You could have database errors happening and no one
will know if you don't check for errors after each statement. The system
reply list won't help you there. Errors still get logged though, but not as
Inquiry or Notification messages.

Subject: Re: Change default replies for a job
Hi Steve,
Wouldn't it be better to fix the program?
To use the system reply list, you'll need to do a few things.
First, take a look at the error message in question. Many have
substitution
variables.
E.g. Say you are dealing with RNQ1221 - Update or delete in file &7
prior input operation (C G D F).
Then determine when you want to specify 'D'. Is it for all times or
aname
specific file or program, etc.?
Looking at the message description, e.g. RNQ1221, shows the program
isspecified
specified in variable &2 (positions 11-20) and the file name is
thein
variable &7 (positions 50-59) in the substitution data string.
You can then add a reply list entry (WRKRPYLE) for RNQ1221 specifying
allfile or program in the comparison data, start position, default reply, etc.
job(s)
The next step is to check what job description is being used by the
in question and if you want to change the job description and affect
capturethewrote:
jobs or create a new job description for this specific job.
If the former, change the existing job description to use
INQMSGRPY(*SYSRPYL). If the latter, copy/create a new job description
specifying INQMSGRPY(*SYSRPYL) and change the job to use this new job
description.
Hope this helps.
Yours truly,

We have a program running that is possibly having an error, when the
user gets the error they just hit enter and continue on their way.
The default reply must be a "C" for whatever error they are getting,
because we are not seeing any logs in QEZDEBUG.
I want to change the default reply to always be "D" so that we
sendersome info on what possibly maybe going wrong.
Can that be done for a particular job, program or user?
