I believe I have found my answer as to why I am unable to copy an ifs directory from one system to another
Its in the acs Help

9.12.1 IFS, QFileSvr.400, and Security

The Integrated File System Support uses the QFileSvr.400 file system to copy or send objects from one IBM i partition to another. This means the user profile and password on both partitions must match, and the partitions must have the same password level system value (QPWDLVL).

The main point is
This means the user profile and password on both partitions must match

And as we have different user profile names from development to production - its going to fail

Now that I have 30 seconds of free time, I went back to this situation

What is interesting - within my acs session, without choosing any particular system, in Integrated File System, I see the following

NOTE: - Copying or sending objects from one IBM I to another uses the QFileSvr.400 file system.

This task requires a system configuration. To add or change a system Configuration, select System Configurations from the Management tasks

Well I chose that option - but didn't really see much

Anyone have an idea what needs to be done?

Works for me in 1.1.7.2.

- Created new dir foo

- Right-clicked on dir rpg

- Copy

- Clicked into foo

- Paste

Preparing to paste

Saving selected objects

Successfully pasted 1 of 1 objects

Folder foo/rpg contains all the contained files.

You may have a permission problem.

Hi everyone

I have just downloaded the new IBM I Access Client Solutions (32 bit)

Version 1.1.7.2 Buildid 6422

I am trying to copy an ifs directory from one system to another -

using drag and drop But its failing - without really telling me why

I highlight the directory in one session - right click andpress Copy

Then I drag the highlighted directory over to the other session of the

other system and the following is displayed Preparing to paste Saving

selected objects No objects saved or restored An error occurred. See

previous detailed messages for more information.

Cleanup processing to follow

Failed to paste objects

Can anyone point me to somewhere on the web to show what I need to do

Where do I "See previous detailed messages for more information"?

As always - any and all responses gratefully accepted
